SUBMISSION DETAILS
Submissions are now open, but please be sure to read the details below carefully, and the ‘How To Submit’ details at the bottom. You can submit up to 3 designs.
Don't be put off if this looks complicated, firstly, if you know how to use Photoshop, or other Adobe programs, it is not hard to work out. You can start with a smaller image at 300dpi and then when you are ready just scale up the image and scale down the dpi, it really is that simple! If you feel completely overwhelmed then send an email with a 'help' in the subject line and I will do my best to help, although this is obviously not encouraged, please do your best to work it out for your self!
Ideally you will be technically proficient enough to produce your design at 150dpi and in CMYK at the size below and prepare it for submission as a jpeg of around 20 MB. Please name each image with the name you would like to be credited as, followed by 1, 2 or 3 when submitting 3 images.
If you are submitting a print ready image
The image size you should design for is 80cm wide by 140cm high. Most of the final banners will be 80cm x 2m, including the text top and bottom.
Points to consider;
The banners will be quite high up so bold designs are better, small details will not be able to be seen. Having said that don’t be put off including detail as this adds a certain richness, also many of the designs will be reproduced for publicity, websites/social media and perhaps other printed outcomes.
Don’t put important detail near the edges as it might be necessary to slightly crop the designs.
You are asked to add the word you had in mind in relation to the Gloucester Rd when you submit, however if we have too many duplicates we may give your submission a different tag on the banner.
If you are not technically proficient there will be a couple of sessions organised locally to Gloucester Rd where you can bring images for submission. Details for these will follow but for now all you need to consider are the proportions of the images needed. This does not mean that you need to produce an original of the final size; in fact it is much better if the original image is smaller as it will need to be photographed. Just produce your design bearing the below details in mind and make it roughly long and thin. It is better if it is a bit wider with the option of cropping a little off as obviously it is not possible to add extra design on!
If you need help: Please let us know if you are going to need help getting your image digital ready. Just drop us an email with 'need help' in the subject line and let us have some contact details. This will give us an idea of how much help we have to organise. Send your email to [email protected]
Please be aware that whilst the best efforts will be made to reproduce colours accurately (correct CMYK files should facilitate this) the colour reproduction on the final banners cannot be guaranteed.
Also we must state that this project will depend on getting planning permission that cannot be applied for until the designs are submitted. We don’t envisage this will be a problem however we cannot guarantee that the banners will go up until the planning permission is granted.
Copyright
The copyright of the images remains with the artist but by submitting images for inclusion the artist grants permission for the use of the images for the banners and any documentation/promotion/press or other use in relation to the project, including Facebook pages, Twitter etc and other related websites. This may also include reproducing the images for exhibition and a publication.
We do not intend to watermark the images and cannot be held responsible if third parties take the images from the web, however no images will be uploaded to public websites at high resolution.
We also have ideas of other outputs, including possible print sales. If these should come about a commission amount will be negotiated with the artists. We are in the early days of this project and are currently focusing on getting the banners up on the Gloucester Road however there are many future possibilities so this is just to give an indication of possible opportunities.
